Žena ve válce (Woman at war)

DESCRIPTION
I used a red flag printed with the phrase Žena ve Válce (woman in war) to cover myself while lying on the ground, emulating the way dead soldiers fallen in battle are buried – covered with their national flag. 

CONCEPTUAL
I researched the social context of the Czech Republic and its relationship with war from a gender perspective. This research materialized in the form of a flag, the universal symbol for struggle and an object I use in several of my actions. I sought to honor the bodies of women and feminine identities that weren’t honored throughout history, and reflect on the deconstruction of the historical and social causes for which women fight.

Žena ve válce (Mujer en guerra)

DESCRIPCIÓN
Utilicé una bandera roja impresa con la frase Žena ve válce (mujer en guerra) para cubrirme mientras estaba acostada en el suelo, emulando la forma en que los soldados muertos caídos en la batalla son enterrados, cubiertos con su bandera nacional.

CONCEPTUAL
Investigué sobre el contexto social de la República Checa y su carácter bélico desde una perspectiva de género. Esta investigación se materializó en la forma de una bandera, símbolo universal de cualquier lucha y objeto que utilizo en varias de mis acciones. Busqué honrar y venerar los cuerpos de todas las mujeres y feminidades que la historia no glorificó, invitando a reflexionar para seguir deconstruyendo la carga histórica y social de las causas por las que lucha una mujer.
