Repair until deformation

I explore personal and collective trauma as a force that, in trying to heal, deforms us instead of taking us back to an origin. I work with leather, a material crossed by my family history, to embody a memory that insists on staying alive. I draw on Suely Rolnik’s idea that some things do not heal, they transform: the wound persists, mutates, thickens. I am interested in how this transformation produces keloid-like scars: thick, visible, impossible to deny. Deformation then appears as the only possible way to close something, to press the wound until it changes shape. This is not repair; it is the persistence of trauma in the body and in the world.
Exploro el trauma personal y colectivo como una fuerza que, al intentar sanar, nos deforma en lugar de devolvernos a un origen. Trabajo con cuero, material atravesado por mi historia familiar, para encarnar esa memoria que insiste en seguir viva.
Retomo a Suely Rolnik cuando afirma que hay cosas que no se curan, se transforman: la herida persiste, muta, se espesa.
Me interesa cómo esa transformación produce cicatrices tipo queloide: gruesas, visibles, imposibles de negar.
La deformación aparece entonces como la única vía posible de cerrar algo, de apretar la herida hasta que cambie de forma.
Esto no es reparación; es la persistencia del trauma en el cuerpo y en el mundo.
