I stand nude on a white platform, with a container of blood beside me, offering my body as territory. Slowly, I draw concentric circles on my abdomen with blood, building a target directly onto my skin. With each circle, I trace inherited histories, imposed narratives, and the visible and invisible marks we carry, reflecting on the parallels between the extraction of land and the extraction of bodies. Target is not only about vulnerability, but also about resistance: the act of remaining present, inhabiting the body, and refusing erasure.
The work emerges from an ongoing investigation into feminicides and the ways violence is inscribed onto bodies. Influenced by Rita Segato’s analysis of gender violence as a form of territorial and political domination, the target becomes more than a symbol: it exposes how certain bodies are marked, disciplined, and made vulnerable within larger systems of power.
The remains of the performance, together with the video documentation, were on view at the gallery after the performance.
Estoy desnuda sobre una plataforma blanca, con un contenedor de sangre a mi lado, ofreciendo mi cuerpo como territorio. Lentamente, dibujo círculos concéntricos en mi abdomen con sangre, construyendo una mira directamente sobre mi piel. Con cada círculo, trazo historias heredadas, narrativas impuestas y las marcas visibles e invisibles que cargamos, pensando en los paralelos entre la extracción de la tierra y la extracción de los cuerpos. Target no habla solo de vulnerabilidad, sino también de resistencia: el acto de permanecer, habitar el cuerpo y rechazar el borramiento.
La obra surge de una investigación en curso sobre los feminicidios y las formas en que la violencia se inscribe sobre los cuerpos. Influenciada por el análisis de Rita Segato sobre la violencia de género como forma de dominación territorial y política, la mira se vuelve algo más que un símbolo: expone cómo ciertos cuerpos son marcados, disciplinados y vueltos vulnerables dentro de sistemas de poder más amplios.
Los restos de la performance, junto con la videodocumentación, quedaron expuestos en la galería después de la acción.
